Mar Qaroll is the founder of DeVerse and all subsidiary ideas and projects. He is a hobby writer inspired by alternative lifestyles, dark artistry, and the dark cultures[1] and his innate attraction to things that are "strange and unusual" and taboo in modern societies. He likes to be addressed by Mar, not by his last name. Personal lifeMar was artistic and prone to writing at a very young age, often claiming he was "born with a pencil and paper in hand". Before he knew the alphabet, he filled notebooks with scribbles. Reading was a huge part of his life as a child, and he most often frequented the fantasy and fairy-tale aisles of his local library. The stories he wrote during this time, while written childishly, were not for children in their own age ranges, with frequent mentions of rape, actual rape, alcoholism, sexual themes, violence, abuse, and torture. Many of the stories he wrote at age 8 to 12 years old have been re-purposed into newer stories today. Later teen years: 2008 - 2013During much of this time, Mar struggled heavily with major depressive disorder (MDD)[2]. The remaining time not fighting it he spent constantly working on the first but now defunct DeVerse project, Project PHE. |
